7 Things I Look for in a friend

Hi everyone!! Thanks for coming to my blog today, so glad you could make it.

For today’s post, I thought I’d talk about what a friend is to me. I have been blessed with some wonderful friends throughout my 13 years, and today I will be TOTALLY and BRUTALLY honest with you guys about what I consider a friend. So let’s find out!!

Really quickly, I just wanted to say to anyone that considers themselves my friend, that if I list a quality that you “think” you do not possess, please don’t be offended. I’m still praying that I, myself will possess all these qualities one day so I can be a better friend.

I’m sure right now you guys are itching to read on, so let’s get into it!!🙈

Christian

Having a God fearing friend is THE MOST important quality I look for. The only thing better than having a friend like that is…. well, being a friend of God himself of course, lol!!! 😛Especially during my teen years, the people I find myself around will most likely be who I become as an adult. Considering this, having a Christian friend, who loves and obeys the word of God could really help shape my life in God.

Trust

Really high on the list of what I look for in a friend is trust. If I can trust my friend, and they can trust me back, then we are on our way to a healthy relationship. Trust worthy friends are very important because if you tell them something private, you need to know that it won’t “accidentally” spread to everyone they talk to…if you know what I mean.

Honesty

Having a friend that is honest is a another huge quality I look for. Honesty in character definitely, but really a friend that will tell me the truth. Although the truth may not be exactly what you want to hear from a friend, because let’s be honest, sometimes the truth hurts.😩 But if I can take their honest advice, ultimately I will be positively affected.

Loyalty

Again, ANOTHER big one. It’s extremely comforting to know that a friend is loyal, they are there for you, and you are there for them. Not inconsistent and only there for your stuff, (sorry I told you I would be brutally honest, lol) but one who truly stays, for you.

Forgiveness

I think everyone knows that friends, if they’re really friends, are going to have disagreements. But even if the friend has all the other qualities above, how is all that supposed to work if they’re angry at you all the time. Having a friend that forgives quickly, can keep a relationship strong and going smoothly even after a major hiccup. The Bible encourages us not to let the sun go down on our wrath. I’m praying that I too will be a friend that forgives quickly.

Similar Interests

I really enjoy having conversations with people who have the same interests as me. I mean, if we’re really friends, we’re going to talk… a lot! That would be easier to do if we share the same interests. That very important first quality of being a christian comes in very handy here, we’re sure to enjoy clean conversations, and wholesome activities.

Compromise

Honestly, I’m still working on this. Being willing to compromise (because I can totally be so stubborn sometimes 😅). I’m sure nobody likes someone who is constantly like, “my way or the highway!” But being willing to compromise also shows a sense of selflessness and care for the other person, which is always awesome.

So that’s it! Thank you all so much for reading today’s post! What do you guys look for in a friend? Please leave a comment below!! Also before you leave, be sure to like, subscribe, and share! And as always, until next Tuesday guys, stay smart! 😎👌

  2. Hello, Elizabeth!
I just found your blog, and it looks lovely! I’m a homeschooled preacher’s kid, too! 😄 — I enjoyed this post! I never had friends until I was 11 years old, and I was so thankful that God put these wonderful girls in my life. We’re still friends and now pen pals, and we’re all striving to grow in our relationship with God together! 😊
