Hey ya’ll, happy Tuesday!!! Thanks for coming to my blog today. I’m really excited about today’s post because it’s a traveling one!!! (I haven’t done one of these in a little while) So without further ado, let’s get into it!
A Little Background…
From Friday, May 31st, to Saturday, June 1st, my family and I as well as some other saints from our church, were honored to attend the first ever Prophecy Conference of the Northeast, hosted at the Hilton Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut.
In the organization our church belongs to, there is only one other type of conference like this, but that’s all the way in Michigan, which is a little far for us who live in the Northeastern region of the US. Because of this, my dad’s good friend brother Michael felt led to bring it closer to his home church in Connecticut. Although this conference’s beginning was small, we’re expecting it to grow to one of the most attended in the UPCI!
Friday night, the first night of the conference was a blast. And do you know why? One reason is because there were two bishops present who were selling books, and I was given permission to help!!! (My inner sales lady was awakened)
Thankfully, we ended up selling lot’s of books. In the beginning, a lot of the people we asked to purchase a book as they were entering the “sanctuary” said “later”. After a bunch of people said that I started to get discouraged. But surprisingly, they actually did come back after the service! LOL!!!
The other reason the Friday night service was a blast was Bishop Kinsey preached an amazing message! But after church, something you gotta know about apostolic culture is that after every service, we go out to eat. No matter how late it is. In our case, it was 11 o’clock. But to us, that didn’t mean anything.
Dinner time!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were pretty hungry, for our midnight dinner, we ended up going to the Cheesecake Factory. And seriously, I have never in my 13 years of living seen a cheesecake factory so empty. We didn’t even have to wait for our seat!
On the other hand, everyone else at the conference went to Peter Chang’s, not PF Chang’s, Peter Chang’s. I heard it was pretty crowded in that restaurant.
Because I don’t want this post to be too long, I’m not gonna give you all the details of what we ate but I did have three shrimp tacos, and for dessert, the original cheesecake. (With so many other fancy cheesecakes on the menu, even the waitress was laughing at me! LOL!!)
OK, fast forwarding to the next day. Despite our late night, I was up before 6:30 a.m. the next day and downstairs for breakfast by 8 a.m. #earlybird
Again, since I don’t want to keep ya’ll too long, for breakfast I had a cup of coffee, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, this cheesy thingy, and lots, and LOTS of bacon.
After finishing breakfast, before Saturday’s day session, I was once again blessed to help with selling the books. Which was awesome. The good news I have that job secured for next years prophecy conference too 😉
After church started, we had to… I mean “we had the privilege to…” go inside to hear the message from Bishop Wilson and Bishop Kinsey. After the preaching and altar call we went back to the book table, because after church people were swarming the table like bees to get the last of the books that hadn’t been sold on Friday. Once again, everyone wanted to wait until after church, LOL!!!
Right now I’m just thinking of all those people, and all those books. Wow, I loved all the excitement behind all of it.
Soon after most of the books were sold and all the people left, we started cleaning up with the intention of going to lunch. Upon finishing, we went to join everyone at lunch but, there weren’t any more seats!
My Dad asked the staff to put out a new table for Sis. Karla (the adult helping us) Jonny and I, LOL! They actually did it though.
The food was OK, but in the kids section for ages twelve and under, they were eating like kings. They had their entree, plus dessert, and on top of that, are you ready for this….snacks.
I’m thirteen, but I look a lot older than that so I couldn’t sneak in. It’s a hard knock life.
Soon after the fellowship and a little bit of cleaning, it was time to go home. The Prophecy Conference Northeast was the best conference I’ve ever attended!!!
So that’s it for today ya’ll!! I hope you enjoyed this post, and again, a huge thanks for reading! It’s time for me to go now, but until Thursday, stay smart!😎👌
